About Me

Hi! I’m Loraine, a registered Counselling Psychologist.
I found my way to being a Psychologist because I am deeply curious about people and what makes us ‘tick’ and I struggle to see suffering without doing something to help. Until recently, I worked for the NHS in a specialist service, with people who have experienced trauma and who have complex emotional needs. I was also a DBT Therapist in the Trust’s small DBT Service.
My Approach
If you’re expecting a silently nodding Psychologist with a grave expression and not much to say, I’m probably not the right therapist for you. There is, of course, a time for silence and for pondering but I offer interactive sessions with a focus on understanding, problem-solving and growth. There is great value in exploring how a problem developed but there comes a point where insight is not enough and action is required.
